To detox or not detox
Finding the right path to detox in the jungle of fads and frauds is not easy. Should you choose from a free website or grab your neighbor’s detox plan? Is eating lemons or cabbage for a week a good thing? Why do you have nasty breakouts when fasting?
The truth is: there is only one detox that actually detoxifies the body and that is FASTING and intermittent fasting. Fasting will reset your body as by drinking water (herbal and fruit teas are allowed) and avoid solids, the body has the chance to actually take a break.
During the break, our body will use up any excess (sugar, minerals, hormones, fats), and will eliminate anything that is unnecessary.
Fasting will shrink the stomach and you will be able to feel less hungry, therefore losing weight.
BE WARNED!!
You need to know how to fast first. Fasting for long periods of time or if you suffer from any condition can harm you!!!!
It is important to have a professional opinion to make sure fasting is the right detox for you.
Book a consultation with our nutrition expert and see if you can adopt fasting as a detox or weight loss solution.
The benefits are aplenty but so are the risks if you do not know how to use fasting and intermittent fasting as a beneficial tool.
Until then, here is a simple recipe to keep you going.
Green curry
Slice thinly zucchini, capsicum, onion, garlic (2 cloves), bok-choy and saute’ in sesame oil and a sachet of green or red curry paste.
Remove from the pan and cook your protein (chicken, beef, pork, tofu, fish, lentils, chickpeas, paneer) without rinsing the pan. Add a couple of spoons of oil.
When the protein is cooked, add the veggies, chicken stock and coconut milk or cream if you prefer a less soupy dish.
I didn’t include any measurements as this dish can have more veggies or protein and you just let it simmer until it reaches the consistency you desire but if you are new to cooking, use one of each vegetable, 200 to 300gr of protein, 50ml of chicken stock and a can of coconut cream.
